Supplement Details:Many Chinese rely greatly on the ginko leaves to treat aging-related disorders. There are various scientific studies that indicated that ginkgo has the ability to lessen the pace of memory loss of patients stricken with Alzheimer's disease, or multi-infarct dementia (also called MID) plus also age-associated memory impairment (or AAMI). There is even some proof that the ginkgo can reverse the impact of such illnesses to a certain degree.
The ginkgo can combat age-related disease in a two-fold manner: first, its own flavonoids can serve as human antioxidants so that the free radical damage that forces the body to break down as it ages can be halted or reduced in intensity. The second way is by inhibiting the action of the platelet activation factor (or PAF) so that too much clotting of the blood and higher levels of cholesterol accumulation can be prevented. These two conditions are thought to cause atherosclerosis as well.
There is a condition that has a close association with atherosclerosis named cerebral insufficiency which is believed to be treatable with ginkgo. The symptoms of cerebral insufficiency are: inability to concentrate, confusion, absence of coordination, headache, fatigue, dissiness, anxiety and depression. One theory about the cause is that blood vessels may be clogged so that blood flow to the brain is reduced.
Ginkgo can boost the supply and circulation of blood to every part of the human body, such as the brain, eyes, and heart, and even the penis. There is quite a lot of proof that the reduction of libido in both males and females can be addressed with the gingko. Ginkgo can also be used to prevent the onset of aging-related diseases such as cancer, stroke, heart disease, glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration too.
Certain laboratory research indicates that use of ginkgo supplements may enhance brain function. In fact, one study revealed that consumption of ginkgo ranging from 120 up to 240 milligrams per day can reduce the rate that early stage Alzheimer's disease progresses, as well as multi-infarct dementia. People afflicted with age-associated memory impairment or AAMI can benefit from better memory attributed to ginkgo consumption.
Healthy people may benefit from taking ginkgo too but it is best if they just take a minimum of 240 milligrams and above. One group that works for the German government by checking how safe and effective certain herbs are, the Commission E, says ginkgo is advisable for use by Alzheimer's patients, and people with memory loss or multi-infarct dementia. If you experience tinnitis (or ringing in your ear), have suffered a stroke, or undergo intermittent claudication (meaning, you get leg swelling and pain attributed to poor circulation) then you may need to use ginkgo too, as recommended by Commission E.
You can also use ginkgo if you suffer from sexual dysfunction, regardless of gender. Penile blood vessels become more relaxed and experience better blood flow when ginkgo is consumed by the patient. This may show why erectile dysfunction is treatable by ginkgo supplementation, since the product has blood vessel relaxant properties. This means, simply, that the penis gets more blood flowing to it so that it can sustain an erection. If your sexual dysfunction is due to antidepressant drugs, then you might also use gingko for that condition too.
You can purchase gingko as ginkgo seed, ginko leaf extract or ginkgo leaf when you need them but remember that the usual dose stands at 240 milligrams of the basic ginkgo leaf extract per day. You might also consume ginkgo as part of ginkgo-fortified food and teas. However, be advised that ginkgo is contraindicated in people using blood-thinning medication or in some sensitive individuals. In such people, they may experience minor side effects including diarrhea or nausea.
