Burdock Antioxidant ReviewedHow does Burdock compare? Please read our report below......
Supplement Details:A natural diuretic (a characteristic that displaces water from the body through urine and/or sweat) and decongestant, burdock promotes sweating and has been used in traditional Asian medicine as a panacea for symptoms and discomforts caused by colds, flu, and pneumonia. Modern practitioners of alternative medicine also use burdock to “flush” toxins from practically all parts of the body like the blood, liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and even the lymphatic system. It is also being touted as a cure for cancer.
Burdock has been proven in various studies to also be effective in lowering blood sugar levels and may thus be used to help diabetics. Other studies have shown that the root of this weed (which has a taste slightly akin to that of celery) is effective as an antidote for several poisonous chemicals.
If you believe in natural treatments, just be careful not to mistake burdock with belladonna, a plant that can be fatally toxic when consumed. To be safe, there are several commercial preparations that use the extract of burdock as their most active ingredient. Not only will this ensure that you are not consuming something that you should not, you are also able to accurately measure the amount that you need.
Generally, burdock can be considered safe and the leaves and roots of this weed can be cooked and consumed with virtually no risk. Some caution, however must be taken by those who have abnormal blood sugar levels and those who are pregnant because of some contraindications that may prove harmful to these types.
Herbal cures such as those using burdock extracts have long been used in ancient times as treatments for a variety of diseases and medical conditions. There is a never ending debate between practitioners of alternative medicine (to which the herbalist is categorized under) and those who are more scientific in their beliefs. Whichever method of treatment you select is really your choice but it is best that you make this choice based on clear information about the each of the options available. Neither school of thought has all the solutions; one has history behind it while the other is based on scientifically measurable evidence.
There is, however, that thin line that connects both approaches, one that is slowly but surely thinning more and more. At the end of the day, choose the approach that you believe in because a large portion of the cure for one's malady is psychological in nature.
